Pentatonic Scales

Hopefully you’ll forgive me – turns out Nine a day would have been a more accurate title. But I think if you sing these without my explanations you’ll be able to fit it into 5 minutes! I do like to talk!!

We’re starting with the pentatonic scale. Whatever your musicianship level, the pentatonic scale is the foundation and needs attention even when you can’t remember the last time you needed it in your class. It’s the foundation of modes, of the circle of fifths and the ability to switch between the major seconds and minor thirds helps with dictation, sight singing, well… everything. So let’s go back to basics with this quick 5 (or 9) minute routine.
