with Claire Bowes

Friday 29th September 2023 at 8pm (BST) on Zoom

Memorisation for musical performance. A phenomenon considered and disregarded by many musicians who often rely heavily on printed music notation for accessing music. In this presentation, strategies, hints and tips on how to memorise successfully will be explored.

Register below and we’ll send you the zoom codes plus access to our free Kodály Treasure Chest and other emails (you can opt out anytime).

Presenter: Claire Bowes is a piano teacher, music educator and music school owner from Northern Ireland. She wants her students to become confident and creative musicians. She has recently completed an MA in Music Psychology for Education, Performance and Wellbeing.

The focus of her dissertation research was the effectiveness of memorisation strategies for musicians with sight loss. Claire is blind herself and therefore has personal interest in this area. She will share insights from research, as well as personal experiences of memorisation.
